Birds

These are what I used at my wedding to mark where everybody was sitting! After people took their card and made their way over to the appropriate table they found these friendly little bird faces waiting for them to let them know where they should be sitting. Girls had pink birds and boys had teal.

I can't take all the credit for the idea of making little birds out of yarn. I first encountered cute little yarn birds many years ago when the company Steiff used to produce them. Then during my researching of place setting ideas I ran across the idea of using yarn turkeys to hold name tags on a Martha Stewart website. The way Martha Stewart suggested to make them seemed really strange to me and I didn't like her methods at all so these guys have become my own creation done my own special way that I developed. They have no hot glue and the beaks, eyes, feet, and tails are all looped through the base of the yarn pompoms. I also used sew-on plastic eyes to give them cute little faces.
